I struggled to love myself for years when the challenges in my life were taking their toll. I was looking for love and acceptance from others because I believed that they could make me happy but of course it didn't work like that.
One day I waited for my flight at the airport and I bought a book to keep me entertained. I chose the “Secret” from Rhonda Byrne as it was on the top of the bestsellers list. By the time the plane landed I had finished the book and knew that I needed to do changes in my life.
I had learned that like attracts like! Meaning that if you love yourself you attract more love, but unfortunately same goes with the negative variation, if you hate or despise yourself, you will attract situations that will prove your thoughts to be right. It really hit me as I realized that it wasn't them, it was me!
I started my journey to learning to love myself again. Below I have listed my top three tips that worked for me; maybe they can help you too. Try them out!
1.) The first and the fundamental step is the decision. Decide to love yourself! Say it out loud; write it down to the diary, as this day will be the day when you start your journey!
2.) The second step is to become aware of your thoughts and start changing the negative self-talk to positive. You can be your own worst enemy or your own best friend, the choice is yours.
3.) The third step is to say out loud positive affirmations in front of the mirror. Say to out loud that you love yourself, say that you are beautiful inside and outside… It might be hard at first and you come up with several reasons why not, but keep doing it as it will get easier day by day.
