Many times I stood in front of the mirror and focused on my faults. I wasn’t happy what I saw. I confess that I have said horrible things to myself until I realized something essential...
My body is my only vehicle. My soul chose this vehicle for this lifetime, hence I learnt a new way of thinking and these three steps helped me...
1. LEARN ABOUT MY VEHICLE
Our vehicles are unique; they are custom-made just for us. Do you know your vehicle? We all have our own capacities what we can do. Some of us run fast like they would be a Ferrari, some of us can lift a lot of weight like a Range Rover. Pay attention to special capacities of your body and appreciate them as precious privileges.
Learn to appreciate and be kind to your body; it is your custom-made vehicle!
2. LEARN HOW TO MAINTAIN
As vehicles, our bodies also need maintenance, daily care. What kind of maintenance your vehicle needs? It might not be according the latest exercise or diet trend.
* What kind of exercise do you enjoy doing? Find an exercise form that suits you and learn to do it with joy, not because it’s something on your to-do list. If your car gets a flat tire, you stop and change it. But many times when we feel tired and flat, we won’t stop. We might just keep going until our engine breaks. Learn to listen to your body and recognize its warning signs!
* What kind of fuel your body needs? If we keep eating unhealthy eating and drinking habits, we might end up earlier to the garage. What kind of nutrition makes your body flourish? Take a moment to observe after each meal how your body reacts and how do you feel.
Learn to listen what makes your body feel good and what doesn’t, and start making choices accordingly.
3. LEARN HOW TO ACCEPT
Your body is the only vehicle you got, a vehicle that your soul chose for a reason. If we spend our days wishing that we would have our neighbor’s car, it will just cause us suffering.
If you want to feel better, work on the acceptance for the things that you can’t change and change the things you can.
These three steps can help you to start to be more loving and kind towards your body. Key to change your attitude and habits is the consistency. Be brave and discover thoughts and feelings that might be behind the unhealthy choices… The change will happen when you connect with your body and become more conscious about your choices.
Challenge for August is to take a moment every day and ask your body how it is doing!
“Your body is precious. It is our vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care.” ~Buddha
