Just like that, April is here.
I’m often curious about the origin of the names and found out that there are a few common theories behind April’s naming. One theory is that the name is rooted in the Latin Aprilis that could be derived from the Greek Aphrodite – the goddess of love – as the months are often named after gods and goddesses. Another theory is that it comes from Latin “aperire” which means “to open” which could refer to the opening and blossoming of flowers and trees in the Northern Hemisphere.
Yes, April is a good month to open our hearts to feel even more love, peace, and joy so that we can accelerate our growth on a personal and professional level.
When we want to open up for more, we can take a look if there are things that we can let go of so that we have more room for the new. This is a great time for spring cleaning! Yes, you can do that on a physical level as the spring sun is revealing the dust but more importantly, you can do spring cleaning in your inner storage unit of unresolved issues, past hurts, and disempowering stories.
From my own journey (if you haven’t heard my story, you can tune in here), I have noticed that our lives don’t function well when we carry those unresolved issues, past hurts, and disempowering stories with us. They can block us from fully feeling love, peace, and joy, and they can even hold us back from using our true potential.
The fact is that we all have gone through challenging experiences at some point in our lives. We all have our stories about those life-altering moments. And then we also have stories that we tell ourselves about them. And it’s this Inner Story, more than anything else, that affects the results we are able to achieve in our business and in life. These stories can support us… or stop us. They can empower us… or disempower us.
We can’t change what happened, it happened. But we can change how we relate to it and we can transform those inner stories to work for us instead of working against us!
I recommend that you do a spring cleaning in that inner storage unit so that you can open up to experiencing more of the good things in life. You can start by taking a moment to contemplate how you relate to your past. Are you open to exploring or are you resisting it? Are there any thoughts or feelings that are coming forward? If there are, are those working against you or supporting you?
You can also explore what are the stories that you are telling yourself about your past. Are those inner stories disempowering you or empowering you? Awareness brings you a choice. It is the first step toward positive transformation.
